‘Right to Grow’ backed by the London Assembly

The Right to Grow is a campaign for legislation that would give people the right to grow food in underused public spaces.

IEL has been actively working to secure the Right to Grow in Lambeth, and we are delighted to report that earlier this month, following an enquiry into the advantages and barriers to community food growing, the London Assembly released a report which strongly supports the Right to Grow.

The report, which you can view below, makes several great recommendations, including that the Mayor should ‘encourage London boroughs to work with communities to support a right to grow, such as Southwark’s Allotment Expansion Guarantee, and make additional land available for community food growing’.

Now let’s carry on fighting to see all these recommendations put into practice!
