Incredible Edible Lambeth is looking for volunteers to support our new Estates Biodiversity project.
We will need help with a range of different activities including running our initial consultations, setting up workshops, running planting days, gardening sessions and activities.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to work directly with local communities and to get involved in an environmentally focused project.
We will be running activities during the week and weekends/evenings. Long and short-term volunteering is available and the role can be flexible to suit. If you have experience or interest in working with communities, gardening and nature conservation we would love to hear from you!
Please note, you will never be asked to work alone, and will always be working with the project coordinator or another member of staff/volunteer.
General responsibilities can include:
- Supporting the project coordinator with setting up and running initial consultations on estates in Lambeth. This could include venue set-up and takedown, meeting and greeting participants, taking notes, handing out fliers, organising refreshments.
- Working with estates to run biodiversity survey days, supporting residents with exploring and recording the plants and wildlife on different sites.
- Helping to coordinate bulb planting and seed sowing sessions over larger areas on estates
- Helping with habitat creation, food-growing and gardening activities
- Helping to set up and clear away for resident led workshops (could be both indoor and outdoor.)
This role will be subject to a DBS Check, as volunteers may be working with vulnerable adults and children.
Priority will be given to estates residents in Lambeth. Travel costs will be reimbursed and a stipend for lunch will be provided.
