Brockwell Park Surgery Garden Project

Brockwell Park Surgery Garden Project has developed and expanded over the course of almost 10 years to include a herb garden, fruit trees and bushes planted in conjunction with the Urban Orchard Project, a productive compost area and raised beds of varying heights to maximise accessibility.

As our crop of winter lettuce and broad beans comes to an end we are planting spinach, tomatoes, sweetcorn, summer lettuce, rocket and our ever successful runner beans, which, alongside cavolo-nero planted some months ago will be sold in the surgery; this encourages patients to connect with the source of their food & eat more healthily and also generates an income to reinvest in seeds & plug plants for the coming year.

Benefits described by project participants including improved physical fitness, social connections, a sense of meaning and purpose and an increased interest in, knowledge of & skills relating to gardening & the natural world.
