Working as an Ofsted Registered Childminder, a strong emphasis is placed on being outside where children help grow and pick their own food. I have a real desire for children to see where and how their food comes from, not just in plastic packaging from the supermarket.

This photo is snapshot of the main growing area (interspersed with children’s toys) on 14th June 2017, the edibles currently growing in the picture include double cropping autumn raspberries, rosemary, broad beans, peas, garlic, onions, carrots, courgettes, peppers, beetroot, chard, strawberries, popcorn sweetcorn, rhubarb, tomatoes, blueberries and loganberries.

There are 9 sacks of potatoes growing, 1 for each child attending and just showing at the rear in the grassed area are the new apple and pear trees the children also helped plant!
