Growing From The Root

Twelve groups held events in their garden from July 2024 – July 2025 thanks to funding from the National Lottery Awards for All programme.

IEL was able to support food growing leaders to design the event and gave £650 per group to buy the resources they needed. Across the borough, food growers attracted hundreds of people into their spaces, recruited new volunteers, improved their infrastructure with new beds and planting, learned new skills and made connections to other groups. The events meant they strengthened relationships with other projects, engaged more people with food growing and improved biodiversity in the borough.

See the updates below for details of the individual events.

IEL director Tori Sherwin said: “Huge thanks to everyone that worked with us and to National Lottery players for funding the programme.
