Making stawberries go further
A favourite pudding from my childhood when strawberries were a season treasure. 'Strawberry meusli' (then pronounced mooshli).
Roughly a punnet of strawberries sliced and layered with sugar to bring out the juice. Let stand in the fridge for several hours.
In a bowl (about salad bowl sized, mix fine rolled oats (porridge oats) with milk into a fairly liquid gruel. Add a grated green apple (Granny Smith is perfect). Let stand for a few hours in the fridge.
Mix the strawberries with the mooshli, stir and serve. It will be pale pink and taste of the essence of strawberries. Delish.
