We have acres of green space on our estates, but historically, they have been managed for minimum work – bare grass and harshly pruned trees. They are rarely spaces we would like to spend time in. But at Incredible Edible Lambeth, we think these spaces have huge potential for communities to come together, to enjoy food growing in community gardens and to support biodiversity through some level of ‘rewilding’ (longer grass, shrubs that can flower – both encourage wildlife to flourish).
In edition of Lambeth Food Stories, you can find out more about our Grow Back Greener Estates project and hear stories from six residents about how they are changing their immediate environment for the better.
This event was part of London’s Festival of Ideas #FestivalOfIdeasLDN.
