Incredible Edible Lambeth (IEL) is a member community. We encourage a friendly and positive environment to promote food growing and community action in Lambeth.
We want to be a community that welcomes and supports people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes, but is not limited to, members of any race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, immigration status, social and economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability. We will not tolerate discrimination based on any of the protected characteristics above.
Diversity is one of our strengths and to ensure that all of our members feel welcome and valued, our code of conduct establishes clear expectations for participation in the IEL community. It is not intended to serve as an exhaustive list of prohibited behavior, but rather, a set of principles for maintaining a healthy and inclusive community.
This code of conduct creates a framework for our community to maintain a respectful and kind environment for all members. Anyone who violates the code of conduct may have their membership terminated and will no longer be able to participate in IEL activities and groups.
Our Standards
Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
- Focusing on what is best for the community
- Showing empathy towards other community members
Examples of unacceptable behavior by members include:
- The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
- Public or private harassment
- Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission
- Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a community setting
Our Responsibilities
IEL directors, staff, and volunteers are responsible for clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior and are expected to take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any instances of unacceptable behavior.
IEL directors, staff, and volunteers have the right and responsibility to remind members of the code of conduct within both in-person and online settings. If after the reminder the member continues to breach the code of conduct they will be respectfully asked to leave.
Online, IEL directors, staff, and volunteers have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor for other behaviors that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.
Scope
This Code of Conduct covers all IEL member participation including, but not limited to, training sessions, members meetings in person and online, voluntary activities, and Whatsapp groups.
Enforcement
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the IEL Coordinator at coordinator@incredibleediblelambeth.org. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will follow our Complaints Policy. The IEL Directors and Coordinator are obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.
If an IEL Director or the IEL Coordinator does not follow or enforce the Code of Conduct in good faith they may face temporary or permanent repercussions as determined by other members of IEL’s leadership team.
